Disco Scratch Radio 48 – UK Hip-Hop Legend MC Mell ‘O’ Part 1

Disco Scratch Radio 48 – MC Mell ‘O’ Part 1
In his search the True Perspective of the UK Hip-Hop history, our Brother Waxer has interviewed MC Mell ‘O’, one of the Koolest, Positive and Knowledgable MC's the UK has ever produced.
Disco Scratch Radio on Sensei.FM Here

"The UK has produced some incredible MCs… this small island we call home has had B Boys, Poppers, Lockers, DJs & Writers from a very early era in the development of the UK music scene. The man I spoke with tonight lived through the inception of the UK Hip Hop scene, became actively involved in it RIGHT FROM THE START and continues to represent up til now.
If you don’t know this British rappers heritage, this interview will bring you up to speed… at least in his formative years. The interview is only the first part of this legacy. Mello goes into proper depth with the melting pot of people in Battersea, South London that influenced his career and helped him carve his individual path through the fledgling scene right to present day. Not many MCs can rip up a mic after reppin’ for nearly 30 years! Here’s one that can and do it with depth, professionalism, attitude & knowledge.
I’ll be analysing the interview over the coming week and updating the database to reflect the people, places & subjects covered in this interview. Until then, pour some knowledge into your ear canals, add a couple of spoonfulls of dub, roots, funk & soul into the mix, sprinkle it with rough rhymes, B Boy mentality and fold in staying power, cook for 30 years & you’ll get Mell ‘O’."

Smiley Culture Legend of Saxon Sound Sadly Passes Away Today in Police Raid

Reggae Star Smiley Culture, Legend of Saxon Sound has sadly passed away today, during a police drugs raid on his home. The famous UK Reggae Toaster, originally a member of the Legendary Saxon Sound System, the London based Reggae Sound was famous as a nurturing ground for many of the UKs top early Reggae and Hip-Hop MCs and DJs. Smiley Culture had huge cross over hits with Cockney Translation and Police Officer, both songs dealt with identity, Racism, Police Brutality, and also highlighted the difficulties of the Black Community, in 1980's Thatcher's Britain. Smiley Culture, along with Tippa Irie, Maxi Priest and several other successful UK based Reggae Stars, helped promote modern Caribbean Diaspora culture to the UK, and spread the music to a wider audience. Smiley Culture was also the cousin of MC Merlin, an early UK Recording Hip-Hop MC.

"You Can't Have Hip-Hop Without A F**kin' DJ" DJ Scratch Tears Up Paris (New Video)

"Imma - imma play Jason" - DJ Scratch performing his infamous Jason Mask Juggle routine
DJ Scratch originally one of Klark Kent's Legendary "Supermen DJ's", later became E.P.M.D.'s DJ and more recently Jay-Z's Tour DJ. He is a highly accomplished and sought after producer. Check out his regular radio shows here and instant listen Podcast Mixes here

DJ Scratch Killin It in Paris (EPMD Show, Feb. 20th 2011) I saw EPMD with Scratch in 90' needles to say, it was siiiiiiiiick!

Just Dizle, aka Le Champion, is one of the most sought after DJ's hailing out of France. I had the pleasure of witnessing this first-hand as the spin doctor manned the wheels of steel at a recent party for industry staple Patty Laurent. With a crowd of insiders and celebrities, the self proclaimed outsider rocked the crowd like it was as unground sweat box in his native Paris.

Rocking parties is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Just Dizle's domination strategy includes spreading his brand across the world to go along with his strength in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Norway, the UK, Canada and the States. He's been on BET’s Rap City and also hosts a daily show on AllHipHop Radio.

He's a gladiator for Hip-Hop that does not believe in taking prisoners.
