Is This The Future??? Part 3 "The Mind Reader"

The Electric Mind Reader By John Blaine 1957

Is This The Future??? Part 2

"Israeli mind-scanner may take over US airports

As part of stringent measures to beef up airport security, US authorities may use an Israeli-made mind-reading scanner that allegedly predicts whether a passenger is a potential threat or not.

The Transportation and Safety Administration (TSA) and the Homeland Security are considering the installment of a controversial mind-reading system, that was recently developed by the Israeli-based WeCU Technologies, in all American airports, AP reported on Thursday.

The device, which functions by blending high computer technology and behavioral psychology, is essentially designed to "get inside the evildoers head" without the subject's knowledge and prevent him or her from placing the lives of fellow travelers in jeopardy.

According to WeCU Technologies CEO, Ehud Givon, people cannot help reacting mechanically to recognizable images that suddenly appear in unfamiliar places.

With that in mind, the system aims to project images onto airport screens, such as symbols affiliated with a terrorist group or signs only a terrorist would recognize.

Givon said while the WeCU system would use humans to do some of the observing, it would rely largely on concealed cameras or covert biometric sensors that can distinguish a rise in body temperature and heart rate, however slight it may be.

“One by one, you can screen out from the flow of people those with specific malicious intent,” Givon claimed.

The controversial device has sparked an outcry among civil rights groups, who argue that a system that combs through your brain to look for evil intentions is "Orwellian" and akin to "brain fingerprinting."

The groups note that the US should not follow in Israeli footsteps with regards to Airport security. At the Ben-Gurion Airport in Israel, Jewish Israelis pass through smoothly, while Arab Palestinians are taken aside for closer interrogation or even strip searches.

The US is already subjected to wide-spread controversy over the appliance of full body scanners, which according to critics, are in violation of child protection laws as well as the right of travelers to privacy."

Here is an older
article found here

"A mind-reading machine that could decipher what someone is seeing might soon be possible. Such a device would enable images represented in the brain to be shown on a television screen, and would perhaps even be able to take pictures from dreams." Found

Allow me

Hello friends. Obo Cafe had this week its first darts contest. Concentration, nerves, competitiveness, drinks, fun...we had everything. A real success! A bunch of you came, some of you even had more luck than the others..but at the end, it wasn't that important who won. This was the first of the several contests to be held. And next time, we are sure there will be even more in the basement, gathering for a game.

The world's #1 vodka (not accidentally we have this vodka in our menu.. oh and btw the shots given out Friday were made out of the same vodka ) invites you to be restless, to be inventive, to be extraordinary, to be able to say 'I was There'. Were you There...at Obo Cafe? We had some nice oldies music and full house. We even ran out of beer. Everyone had a great time. Dancing and party means two times more fun. So, this is a special request! Get a move on, have your legs and your body go with the flow, with the music. I guarantee you all, besides having good drinks and fun with your friends, dancing goes along well with the spirit of Obo Cafe. Have some more fun. See you next time. CHEERioS!

STREET INTERVIEW: Joey Marchy

Joey, the architect of the Urban Jacksonville Blog, is a strong community advocate focused on his community and the city he calls home. With his eyes on neighborhood development and politics, he continues to unroll fresh ideas and projects for Jacksonville as he networks closely with other urban advocates and community organizers. You can catch him on episodes of Urban Jacksonville Weekly or enjoying a good beer and a great venue catching up with friends.

Favorite place to get a drink in Jax?
Joey: Underbelly in 5 Points and Shantytown.

What do you think is the best kind of activism to get into in 2010?
Joey: Any. We need more people to get involved and do things on their own. No one is going to throw that art show or start that blog for you. We, as a city, have to take control of our future and make it what we want it to be.

Important Jacksonville landmark?
Joey: Wormans and Carl's on Main Street

What is the glass if not half empty and not half full?
Joey: I think we need to dump the water out of the glass and smash it against the wall. This city needs to be re-engineered and rethought.

How old is Urban Jacksonville?
Joey: Our born date is 6-17-2005

Turn the table on me, and ask me a question…
Joey: What is the future of JaxScene without Tom P, it's founder and architect?
David: I think although Tom has announced his move he will always be unanimous with Jaxscene. Tom has put a lot of energy into this blog, as well as countless coverage of local events, well before REAX came to Jacksonville, or even before the existence of JaxScene. I have no doubt that even if he doesn’t post here, he will have a hand in the growth of JaxScene. From March 08 until now my involvement with JaxScene has been guided closely by Tom. We have worked out new ideas for how the blog should be, but he always let me do what I wanted to if it was cool. One of which was the last redesign of the blog. He instilled in me the focus of why he started it; Music, Art, Community. Also, from not being here, he as played a part in my own reconciliation with where I live and how cool it can really be. In the coming months I want to focus on those strong suites. I want to bring on more energy of those who want to contribute to support our local events and show more media from events that you may not have had a chance to see. As you predicted correctly, I am also working on a redesign to reduce the side gutter clutter and bring an aesthetic focus to media. By the way Tom is bringing back The Hum.

What is your super power?
Joey: Making free time disappear.

Make up an unnecessary quote.
Joey: I didn't make this up, it's from Michael Hyatt the CEO of Tomas Nelson Publishers » "When times are tough, vision is the first casualty. Before conditions can improve, it is the first thing we must recover."

Your favorite album so far in 2010?
Joey: The Stimulus Package - South Rakkas Crew.

Anything else you would like to add?
Joey: Last Saturday, I hosted a LIVE version of Urban Jacksonville Weekly at the Burrito Gallery. We talked to Ian Ranne of Shantytown Pub and Hip Hop Hell Records and had special guest sets by Tough Junkie.

Music_-Children_-Art_-Community

I wanted to convey the importance of children in the art community and felt the shot above indicated that perspective clearly.
