South Africa register its 12th consecutive victory over West Indies on Thursday at the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.
West Indies posted 222 in 47.3 overs and then South Africa overhauled the target with seven wickets and 7. 2 overs to spare
South Africa opted to field and struck at regular intervals right from the start as Johan Botha claimed Chris Gayle.
Devon Smith (36) and Darren Bravo (73: 82b, 8x4, 1x6) added 111 runs for the second wicket. But steady fall of wickets to leg-spinner Imran Tahir (4-41) and Dale Steyn (3-24) meant that West Indies did not post a challenging target. Only Dwayne Bravo (40) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (31) offered some resistance.
In South Africa's chase, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis fell early. But Graeme Smith (45) and de Villiers (107) added 119 runs for the third wicket.
Later de Villiers and JP Duminy added a further 84 runs to script an easy win for South Africa.
De Villiers scored the fastest hundred by a South Africa batsman, in a Cricket World Cup match, off 97 balls. The other record breaking performance of the day was Tahir, who bowled the best spell by a South Africa player on Cricket World Cup debut.
